Identify who are the main influencers in your industry
Many details are involved in good SEO, from the words on each page, the words used in Page Titles, H tags, internal links, alt tags, image file names, on-site content and on-site content types, consistent name, address and phone number information (NAP), social signals, local signals, citations from other sites, how fast your site loads, the presence of a SSL certificate, the sites that you link to elsewhere on the Web, the websites that link to you, and the structure, code and placement of that code on your site. Frequent link audits can save your site from the dangers of negative SEO. If you constantly monitor your links, it’s easier to spot a sudden change before it becomes uncontrollable. First and foremost, the content on your website must be well-written, free of grammatical errors, and 100% unique and original. Content must read smoothly and give visitors the information they are searching for. When you delete a page (or post) from your site, you delete one or more URLs too. That old URL, when visited, will usually return a 404 not found error. But is that what you wanted? Maybe that page should be redirected somewhere. You can use off-page optimization to improve your website’s reputation and authority. This
depends mainly on inbound links. Off-page optimization involves measures which ensure that
good-quality, relevant backlinks are created in the long term. This is also referred to as “link
Pay attention to Google’s official webmaster guidelines
Generally speaking you want to use your keyword as the anchor text for your internal linking whenever possible. External linking (from other sites) shouldn’t be very heavily optimized for anchor text. If 90% of your links all have the same anchor text Google can throw a red flag, assuming that you’re doing something fishy. SEO closely aligns with so many marketing channels, business decisions and user behaviour that the potential your website will be 100% optimised is slim, to nil. Just like you should interview others, seize opportunities to be interviewed, no matter how small the audience is. The 5-600 words that take you 15-20 minutes can turn into a few highly authoritative contextual links. One of the great way to build relations with your website users is through Blog Commenting. Initially building relations might take time but once you start doing regularly, you will be noticed. Moreover, you will gradually start building relations with the bloggers or site administrators etc. Despite all the changes, the fundamentals of search engines remain the same.
One single domain is enough
Search engines optimize their results pages — especially their mobile search results pages — to display businesses that are located near the searcher. This is a good thing for local businesses because local online searches lead to visitors and purchases. We use keyword research to identify potentially useful queries for which a site is not receiving traffic. Keyword research is often abused by aggressive Web marketers who pursue an endless keyword strategy. Endless Keyword marketing continually adds keyword targets to a Website’s list of desired queries. This leads to an overabundance of content production and production standards suffer. When you start reading all about SEO, and all the different opinions out there about it, you might begin to sweat and feel little uncertain. It’s hard to tell exactly how much your company should invest in this line of marketing. You’d like to have a full-blow SEO campaign so you can run with the “big guys,” but you’re concerned that you just can’t afford it or that you simply can’t dedicate the necessary resources to it. One way to approach SEO is to write catchy headlines. One thing you want to pay attention to is the speed of your future website. You can easily check that on websites like Google PageSpeed Insights, or Pingdom. Understanding how your website visitors find you will help you determine if your SEO, marketing or networking efforts are paying off, or if you should refocus your priorities.
Your content strategy could use a facelift
Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "With the increase in powers of content, the journey for internet marketing people has taken a knifelike turn. Not so long ago it might be comparatively easy for a marketer to secure his business in top search engine results. " Your SEO strategy might include links to other websites or pages within your own website. Sometimes pages are no longer available and content is permanently removed from a website. When that happens, website visitors land on a 404 error page. Double-check the links on your website to ensure pages haven’t been taken down without your knowledge. In the past, Google’s algorithm was not quite clever or sophisticated enough to ignore the poor quality links these techniques garnered but that is changing. The Panda and Penguin updates represent perhaps Google’s most aggressive attempt to clean up its search results and in turn, this is having a major impact on the approach that needs to be taken to link building in particular. Work with Google to provide your users with the most relevant, well-informed and entertaining answers to their questions. Prove that you are trustworthy by connecting as closely as possible to high authority sites. Building link popularity of a website is far more crucial than any other factors for SEO and positioning for top search engine ranking. But pay attention to who your link partners are.
Cross-link relevant content
Sometimes, your site will need some downtime, so you can fix things or update plugins. Most of the time, this tends to be a relatively short period in which Google will most likely not attempt to crawl your website. Facebook and Twitter are two of the highest traffic referral sources for some sites, so be sure that you have profiles and are active regularly on both. People love to know about companies, so share company events, company awards, employee new hires, and most importantly, share information related to your industry that is not related to your company often. No one wants to talk to someone that consistently talks about their-self. Guest posting as a tactic has a dual benefit. First, it helps you reach the target audience of blogs who have similar audiences as yours. Second, it helps you get backlinks to your site so you can drive up your search engine rankings. Remember, real SEO takes time. Companies that claim they are able to get you results in a few weeks are likely engaging in unethical practices like buying links, linking to low quality or irrelevant websites, or spamming comments. These shady business practices can result in a slight boost for a short period of time, but sooner or later, search engines are likely to catch on. Not only could Google remove your site entirely, these types of tactics can ultimately destroy your online reputation. Duplicate content refers to a webpage’s content that appears in more than one place on the internet.
Don;t leave shady backlinks in place
The heading structure of your pages is one of the very important aspects of on-page SEO. It defines which parts of your content are important, and how they’re interconnected. You may not want certain pages of your site crawled because they
might not be useful to users if found in a search engine's search
results. If you do want to prevent search engines from crawling your
pages, Google Webmaster Tools has a friendly robots.txt generator to
help you create this file. There are few things more frustrating and downright annoying than investing a large amount of money into a well-researched, written and designed piece of content — that nobody sees. Link building, as a strategy, began in the late 1990s, coinciding with the advent of Google. In the early years of SEO, link building was at the forefront, and generally considered the most important tactic to get one’s website picked up by the search engine. The practice of link building soon went awry as there were no regulations and the algorithms had not yet developed to the point where they would punish link-building offenders. It’s important to make sure that the site you’d like a link from has a a number of DoFollow links from authoritative sites. Authoritative sites are typically well known within their niche and have a large audience and backlink profile as well, they can also be large news websites. If the website you’re targeting has a lot of links from authoritative sites, then it’s a good sign.
